Located in downtown Kansas City, the American Indian Council seeks to promote cultural awareness and preservation while encouraging economic independence for American Indians and Alaska Natives. They aim to expand existing programs and create new programs to benefit general welfare, education, health and wellness by tailoring their programs to specific cultures while educating the general public of American Indian issues and cultures highlighting their positive contributions to American society.
Located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, in Browning, MT, Blackfeet Community College provides access to quality education integrated with Blackfeet culture and language. Blackfeet Community College provides students with an opportunity to earn academic degrees that prepare them for further education and allow them to gain meaningful employment after graduation. They also provide continuing education courses that enrich their community.
The Center for American Indian Studies at Johnson County Community College serves as an advocate for American Indian and Alaska Native individuals and communities through providing resources to JCCC students, staff and faculty trying to better understand American Indian and Alaska Native cultures. They seek to create culturally appropriate curriculum addressing issues such as ethnocentrism, racism, socioeconomic disparities, and health disparities.
The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation is located in north-central South Dakota and is home to the four bands of the Titunwan, People of the Plains: Mnikoju¸ Planters by the Water, Owohe Nupa, Two Kettle, Itazipa Cola¸ Without Bows, and Siha Sapa, Black Foot. Roughly the size of the state of Connecticut, the reservation includes three major waterways including the Missouri River, Cheyenne River and Moreau River.
The Children’s Mercy Hospital-Allergy and immunology Research Lab provides high-quality health care to patients, offers education and advances understanding of allergic and immunologic disorders through research. Their team of board-certified personnel oversee asthma and environmental health care specializing in the needs of pediatric patients.
The Children’s Mercy Hospital-Center or Environmental Health focuses on advocating for individuals affected by environmentally triggered illnesses. They have a number of programs intended to treat the causes of environmental illnesses such as the Health Home Program, Safe and Healthy Childcare Program, and the Safe and Healthy School Partnership Program.
The First Nations Student Association at the University of Kansas serves as a group where American Indian students at KU can work together to achieve academically while fighting stereotypes of Native people to make the KU campus a safer, more welcoming environment for all.
Located in Lawrence, KS, Haskell Indian Nations University offers education to American Indian students seeking Associate and Bachelor’s degrees in a variety of programs. Promoting intertribal relationships, HINU seeks to promote the diversity of the Native American community and striving to the highest level of achievement for its students, staff, faculty and community.
The Iowa Tribe in Kansas and Nebraska is headquartered in White Cloud, Kansas. They have partnered with AIHREA on smoking cessation and primary prevention programs for 6 years. They have also hosted CRFs and outreach events.
The Kansas City Indian Center serves as a resource for the American Indian community of the Greater Kansas City Metro area. Some of the services they provide include healthy living, welfare and cultural services to individuals and families seeking assistance.
The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas is located in the Northeast region of the state of Kansas existing on approximately 150,000 acres of land. The Tribe provides various programs for tribal members including, but not limited to, education, legal, social services, and health. They have collaborated with us for a decade on research, community outreach, and education. They were a site for development of our smoking cessation and weight loss programs and have hosted CRFs and CAB meetings.
The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas is located in the Northeast region of the state of Kansas existing on approximately 150,000 acres of land. The Tribe provides various programs for tribal members including, but not limited to, education, legal, social services, and health.
The Head Start program of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas provides opportunities to enhance the growth and development of children in the Kickapoo community. They provide many services including educational, health and nutrition while strengthening the role of parents and families as the primary nurturers and decision makers in relationship to their children’s health and wellbeing.
The only American Indian graphic design company in existence, Nakota designs seeks to share messages of hope, inspiration and healthy way of life outlooks. Owner and Creative Director, Walt Pourier’s outreach includes language revitalization campaigns, suicide prevention, ending domestic violence, and food distribution.
The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, located in northeastern Nebraska and western Iowa, sits on approximately 308 square miles. The Omaha Nation has assisted with program recruitment as well as implementation.
The Oglala Sioux Tribe is located in southwest South Dakota, home to a population of approximately 18 thousand tribal members. The Oglala Lakota Nation is home to Oglala Lakota College.
Headquartered in Niobrara, Nebraska, the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized tribe with a 15 county service delivery area across Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. The tribe strives to “promote, peace prosperity and happiness” while tending to the general welfare of tribal members.
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation resides in the Northeast portion of the state of Kansas, headquartered in Mayetta, KS. The tribe seeks to maintain and facilitate growth of their cultural and spiritual values by celebrating its unique traditions, language and sovereignty while providing an environment that is beneficial to their tribal members through education, health, safety and welfare.
The Boys and Girls Club of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation endeavors to grow the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of the youth of the Prairie Band community. They focus on developing the youth of the community as the leaders of tomorrow and provide them with the skills and education they will need to face any challenges ahead.
The Early Childhood Education Center is one of the most successful Native American Child Care Education programs in the country. It provides early childhood education that integrates Potawatomi culture into its curriculum. This program seeks to show a long-term commitment to the Prairie Band Potawatomi community by helping each child reach its full potential.
The Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska is located near Reserve, Kansas. They have partnered with use for 6 years, through participation in research, education, and service activities.

Located on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Pablo, MT, Salish Kootenai College provides post-secondary educational opportunities for American Indians from all across the United States. They strive to perpetuate the cultures of the Salish and Kootenai peoples while maintaining quality education and increasing community sustainability.
