Improving American Indian Access to Health Care

The AIHREA screening clinic provided screening services at 5 events in 2015. The screening clinics were held at our annual AIHREA Pow Wow, two of the four reservation communities in Kansas, and two in South Dakota for the Cheyenne River Sioux tribe. This year, in 2015, the screening clinic provided services to 471 people. The screening clinic was set up to provide basic screening tests to eliminate access barriers, as well as provide education on the screenings, numerous health issues, and preventive information for the health issues that are common in American Indian communities.

Moving Forward

Beginning in 2016, we will be having themed screening clinics on one health condition, where community members will get full spectrum care and education related to the theme
