Cultural Education

The Center for American Indian Community Health (CAICH) offers monthly cultural training sessions to CAICH members. Non-members are welcome to attend. The session topics include tribal governance (sovereignty, differences in systems of government among regional tribes), cultural issues (language, gender roles, social norms), ethics in research with American Indian tribes, IRB compliance with American Indian tribes, and community-based participatory research with tribal nations. Sessions are held on the fourth Monday of the month at noon.

The monthly sessions are expected to provide CAICH members and other interested researchers with a degree of cultural competence in order to successfully conduct research with the American Indian nations within the Central Plains region. All trainers are considered competent or experts in their field. Monthly sessions are planned and organized by the CAICH Cultural Training Committee.
